Your photo should preferably be a digital photograph. The photo should preferably be in JPG file format. A digital image needs to be at a minimum of 75 DPI, with an optimum size of 150 DPI.

This translates to an image from a 6 megapixel camera set at its  maximum size.
If you have a postcard size image scanned at 150 DPI, it means that you will have 150 pixels in every square inch on the scanned image on your computer.  Just enlarging the physical size of the image will not increase the number of pixels in your image. The spaces between the pixels just get filled in, and so the enlarged image will look fuzzy and blurry.

Use only high quality photos with a high resolution.
